A short break from Luxor to Abu Simbel: arrive and relax on the first day, see Luxor's main sites before moving to Aswan, visit Abu Simbel, then explore Aswan before your flight home. Private transport throughout.
Our representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Luxor airport and takes you by private, air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel. Check in, relax with a welcome drink and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps with a walk along the Corniche at sunset.
After breakfast, your Egyptologist takes you to the West Bank to see three royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch, cross to the East Bank for Luxor Temple and the vast Karnak complex. In the late afternoon, drive south to Aswan and check in to your hotel for two nights.
Set off early for the drive across the Nubian desert to Abu Simbel, where Ramesses II carved two temples into the mountainside, guarded by four colossal statues of the king. Explore the Great Temple and the Temple of Hathor and Queen Nefertari with your guide, and learn how both were moved to higher ground in the 1960s. A packed lunch is provided for the drive back to Aswan.
After breakfast and check-out, visit the Aswan High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarries, and Philae Temple, reached by motorboat. After lunch, you are transferred to Aswan airport for your flight home or onward journey.
