Combine the carved granite boulders of Sehel Island with the rescued Nubian temples of New Kalabsha on the shore of Lake Nasser.
Take a motorboat through the First Cataract to Sehel Island, where more than 250 inscriptions are carved into the granite boulders, left by officials and expeditions heading south into Nubia. Climb to the Famine Stela, which records a legend of seven years of famine in the reign of Djoser, and enjoy the views over the river and the colourful Nubian village on the island.
Continue to the High Dam and cross by boat to New Kalabsha, where the Temple of Kalabsha, the rock temple of Beit el-Wali and the Kiosk of Qertassi were rebuilt after being rescued from the flooded Nubian valley. Your Egyptologist explains the vast UNESCO campaign that moved them here, before the boat and your driver take you back to your hotel.
