Take a boat across the Nile, ride a camel over the sandy West Bank and arrive in a Nubian village, where you can visit a local family home.
After hotel pickup, board a motorboat and cruise through the islands of the First Cataract, past granite boulders, palm groves and wading birds. On the way there is an optional stop at a sandy beach where you can swim in the clear, cool waters of the Nile, one of the few places in Egypt where it is safe to do so.
Meet your camels on the West Bank and ride across the golden sand dunes that rise above the river. From the saddle you get beautiful views over the Nile, the islands and the city of Aswan. The camels walk slowly and steadily, so the ride suits beginners and families, and your handlers lead the way to the village.
Arrive at a Nubian village, with its brightly painted houses decorated in blue, yellow and white. Visit a local family home, share tea, and learn about Nubian culture, crafts and the Nubian language, which is spoken but not written. You can have a traditional henna design painted on your hand if you like, before the boat takes you back to your hotel.
