Tour Itinerary

1
West Bank: Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple & Colossi of Memnon

After an early hotel pickup, cross to Luxor's West Bank. Start in the Valley of the Kings, where your ticket covers three royal tombs decorated with texts guiding the pharaoh through the underworld. Continue to the terraced mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, set dramatically against the cliffs, and hear the story of one of Egypt's few female pharaohs. Finish the morning with a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the two giant seated statues of Amenhotep III.

2
Lunch at a Local Egyptian Restaurant

Take a break with lunch at a local restaurant, typically serving Egyptian dishes such as grilled chicken or kofta, rice, salads, dips and fresh bread, with vegetarian options available. It is a chance to rest out of the midday sun and ask your Egyptologist anything about what you saw in the morning before crossing to the East Bank.

3
East Bank: Karnak Temple & Luxor Temple

In the afternoon, explore Karnak, the largest ancient religious complex in the world, expanded by pharaohs over some 2,000 years. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 massive columns, and see Hatshepsut's obelisk and the Sacred Lake. End the day at Luxor Temple in the heart of the city, linked to Karnak by the restored Avenue of Sphinxes. The late afternoon light makes the sandstone glow, a perfect finish before you return to your hotel.
