Travel from Aswan to Luxor for a full day at its greatest sites, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak, with lunch, returning to Aswan by train.
Leave Aswan early in the morning for the drive north to Luxor, with soft drinks on board. Cross to the West Bank and visit the Valley of the Kings, where your ticket includes three royal tombs painted with texts guiding the pharaoh through the afterlife. Continue to the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, then stop for photos at the Colossi of Memnon.
After lunch at a local restaurant, cross to the East Bank to explore Karnak, the largest temple complex in the world. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 giant columns, see the obelisks of Hatshepsut and Thutmose I, and visit the Sacred Lake, as your Egyptologist explains how the temple grew over 2,000 years.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Luxor station for the train back to Aswan, where you are met and driven to your hotel or cruise ship. Travel rules on the Luxor–Aswan road limit driving times, which is why the return is made by train.
