Two days covering the great temples south of Luxor: Edfu and Kom Ombo on the way to Aswan, then Abu Simbel the next morning, with a night in a 4-star hotel.
Leave Luxor in the morning and head south along the Nile. Stop at Edfu to explore the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, then continue to Kom Ombo, a unique double temple for the crocodile god Sobek and Horus the Elder, with its small museum of mummified crocodiles. Arrive in Aswan in the afternoon and check in to your 4-star hotel.
Set off before dawn for the drive across the desert to Abu Simbel, where Ramesses II carved two temples into the mountainside, guarded by four colossal statues of the king. After your guided visit, return to Aswan, with the option of a relaxing felucca sail, before taking the train back to Luxor. Lunch, drinks and snacks are included throughout.
